Is This Your God
In this article we will see how Israel allowed idolatry to settle in their hearts and follow after inequity. The stubbornness of Israel was not inherent, their fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were obedient servants of the Lord. God even testified how Abraham keep his charge, his commandments, his statues, and his laws.God confided in Abraham because he knew Abraham would command his children and he did. Gen:18-19
The stubbornness of Israel came from their own wicked hearts having a desire to identify with the other nations and their gods. After God brought Israel out of Egypt he gave them his law, the Ten Commandments. Afterwords God called Moses, Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, along with seventy elders of Israel and instructed them to worship from afar, only Moses alone was to come nigh to God. Ex:24,1-11
God talked with Moses and gave him words and all of his judgement to tell the people; and all of the people answered with one voice and said, all that the Lord hath said we will do. And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord and put them in a book. Then Moses sent young men of the children of Israel which offered the burnt offerings and sacrifice of peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
Ex:24,1-11
v-6 and Moses took have of the blood and put it in basons: and half of the blood he sprinkled on the alter; v-7 and he took the book of the covenant and read in the audience of the people: and they said all that the Lord hath said we will do and be obedient
v-8 and Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, the blood of the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
v-9 then went up Moses, Aaron, Na-dab, A-bi-hu and seventy of the elders of Israel
v-10 and they saw the God of Israel: and there were under his feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone and as it were the body of heaven in it clearness.
v-10 and they saw the God of Israel.......
v-11 and upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hands, also they saw God and did eat and drink.
Here's the point, God is a God of covenant, totally committed to his word and he want you to be the same. Israel entered into a blood covenant with God as Moses performed the ceremony. Now they will be held accountable for the words they said to God. "All that the Lord hath said we will do and obey".
Soon after God told Moses to tell Israel to keep his Sabbaths, for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generation; Ex:31-13 this was a perpetual covenant.
v-18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Si-nai two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
Ex:32-1 Because Moses took a while communing with God and didn't return immediately, the people disowned him and turned to Aaron demanding he make them gods to go before them. Here is where the idolatry and inequity began with Israel soon after they had entered into covenant with God, and it hasn't stopped unto this day. We need to repent!!!
Hosea:14,1-2 O, Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou has fallen by thine inequity. Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, take away all inequity, and receive us graciously; so we will render the calves of our lips.
Be Blessed
